Add 1 to 2 weeks for design consultation and finalizing your layout, plus 2 to 6 weeks of lead time for cabinetry, countertops, and any specialty materials, and a realistic full kitchen project timeline is 6 to 14 weeks from your first consultation to move-in ready.

If Thanksgiving in a finished kitchen is the goal, the design consultation needs to happen now — this week if possible. There is still time, but the window for a full kitchen remodel to be complete by Thanksgiving is closing. For Christmas, you have a few more weeks of cushion, but the same principle applies: earlier is always better, and material lead times do not wait for anyone.

Bathroom remodels move faster. Most bathroom projects run 3 to 5 weeks of construction, as we outlined in our What to Expect When You’re Remodeling blog. With design and material lead time factored in, a realistic total timeline can be 5 to 9 weeks from consultation to completion — which means a homeowner starting the process through mid-to-late September can still expect a finished primary bathroom before Thanksgiving, with even more of a buffer if Christmas is the deadline. Once material selection and ordering time are factored in, most flooring projects can realistically be completed in as little as 3 to 6 weeks total — faster for in-stock products like LVP, longer for special-order natural stone or specific hardwood species.
